pdx/sea, no. 3

……………….
while in portland, i was very happy to meet up with some online friends, 2 photographers that i admire very much – stephanie and abby. i shared breakfast with abby at byways, a quirky restaurant in the pearl that had delicious food and the best mugs. and then i had a really fun lunch with stephanie at clyde common – everything we ate was so good, but i do think the french fries with harissa were a highlight for me (as well as that ninkasi IPA!). both stephanie and abby were such a pleasure to hang out with.
also pictured above are 2 good places that i visited in pdx, recommended by stephanie and abby. first, half and half — a small coffee shop that served courier coffee (youngna, it was great!) and provided a great place to sit and read a book. also, frances may, a nicely curated shop carrying men’s (and women’s) clothing.
it makes me really happy to have made lots of new friends via this blog and flickr, and it’s even better to be able to get together and chat with them over a meal. such good stuff.
a happy october to you (i do wish this year would slow down, don’t you?)

I love the diner shot.
i so enjoy the way you see the world. the way you see the world, and then the way you put those sights together to share here. loveliness. (and i couldn’t agree with you more completely about the goodness of real live visits with blog/flickr friends.)
how fun it must have been to get together with them! love these photos-esp.that one of the plants in the window.
Uh, yes. Year, please, take it easy. What’s the rush?
Brian, Stop eating such awesome food. You make me hungry.
And as usual, great images. Love the first one.
It was great to meet you!
All of your Portland photos are so incredible, seriously want to have them in a little book…maybe a small guide to great places in PDX?
And yes, Clyde Common for lunch is such a dream.
Still thinking of my pork from the other day…
Happy Thursday, Brian.
Brian, all those pictures from Portland are great… a perfect taste before our little trip there end of next week!
Like a speeding train. Tomorrow is Christmas, right?
And I’m with Abby. Book, book!
That exit sign up yonder just destroyed me.
love your
tour
of portland.
the photos
are wonderful!
can’t wait to go there
in december…
my brother just

everything is so beautiful brian! and you make me hungry! luckily johan is just making dinner for us. he says hi!
I, too, am enjoying your trip to Portland, perhaps because it gives me landmarks to look for on my visit over Thanksgiving. Such nice colors and textures, as always.
these photos are so perfect. they capture exactly what i dream portland to be.
i’ve been loving these portland shots. that little blue bird just about made my day. so glad to see such a great city through your lens!
how incredibly fun your time must have been! wow, what a trifecta of ladies you got to spend time with, i’m sure you were over the moon. i’m so inspired by each one of them in different, yet similar, ways — you must have had such wonderful conversations. thanks so much for sharing! keep those shots coming…
the exit plan is the first thing i look at when i get into a room! i have never lost my fear of fire
those fern fronds in photo 7 just tickled my heart.
these photos are beyond good!
I loved the shot of the exit plan. I think I really need to visit Portland one day.
Beautiful as always!
so nice to see “real” life and online life blending together.
