. . . . . . . .
lucky for me, violet is now open on sundays. i stopped by last weekend for a slice of fig tart (so simple and so damn good) and had a chat with the lovely owner claire. while violet is originally famous for their cupcakes, my favorite part about the shop is the other food offered (both sweet and savory). the daily menu changes based on what’s available at the market, and they have excellent coffee. i’m never disappointed.
(FYI, the square photos above were taken with the hasselblad)

The first photo is gorgeous. And oh, my GOD I want that green mixer.
well, it’s an industrial-size mixer so i hope your kitchen is a big one.
oh fig tart- yes please. And I’m really liking your hassy shots brian.
wonderful. i love that last photo.
looks like a super place for a treat. fig tart!
i want a slice of that tart!
Fig tart? Amazing!
looks like a delicious place to eat! fantastic pictures friend.
those looks yummy ^^
I’m really liking the Hasselblad photos
very nice; the first shot is great.
contrary to what you wrote in your last post, i actually find that the hasselblad worked really well here and the above mentioned photos fit right in with your general style and sensibilities. these indoor shots capture the essence of your work in a completely new and interesting way. i really, really adore them.
Gorgeous! I have to get over there…
Holy crap, Brian. I don’t even know what to say about these photos.
I am in love with that picture of the mixer.
Brian… I hope you know how much simple joy your blog and photographs bring to my day. I tend to be a quiet observer here lest I sound like a stalker. But, these images brought me out of the shadows because of their beauty and because these are images of a dream that lurks somewhere inside me. And, it looks just like this.
Thanks for sharing your talents here for us. :)
Sigh. Brian, you’ve introduced me to my newest bakery crush…it’s been all about Baked in Brooklyn for a good four months and now I’ve moved onto Violet. Your pictures are so lovely: I’m guessing they accurately paint a picture of perhaps the sweetest little bakeshop around. Such a clear point of view and aesthetic. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, that mixer puts the modern KitchenAid to shame. I would love to have one in my kitchen (standard size, of course).
Oh my it looks amazing there! I must visit there and try some of that fig tart! Beautiful images!
Second post I’ve read in the space of about two hours that mentions Violet…never been but thinking I better get myself down there soon.
Wow. I love the photo of the mixer. (And the mixer itself).
