mornings, recently
November 16, 2010

. . . . . . . . .
when i’m busy at work, the morning is usually the only time that i have for myself all day (and night). so i like to take advantage of those hours if i can … if i’m not too sleepy.
in the 2nd photo above, i was making egg & cheddar sandwiches with marmite (on brown sourdough from st. john bakery). it’s a new favorite weekend breakfast of mine, and a sure sign that england is seeping into my tastes…
It’s all so looks so delicious and relaxing.
Brian, I really love and appreciate how stunningly simple your photographs are. Really inspiring.
you know what’s kinda funny? since my visit i’m cutting my bread in much thicker slices than i used to. it’s the London / Ferry influence ;-) Nice knife!
This set looks both simple and beautiful. I think the clear tones go very well with the intimate point of view of the pictures.
yes! there it is. looks fantastic.
(as do your breakfasts)
I love Marmite and your pictures….
yeah marmite! cheers from munich.
those are so cute! I like the second and the last one :)
gorgeous. :)
i need to try marmite. i had an old roommate from england who loved it.
Coffee table envy…top photos though so I’ll let you off.
Is Marmite the same as Vegemite?
marmite has a slightly different flavor than vegemite (it’s a bit more intense, in my opinion). more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite
I really like the B&W but to be honest this kind of photos you post sometimes are INCREDIBLE!
Really inspires me as well to take the opportunity to enjoy the morning hours.
Peace/
Adam
I didn’t even know what marmite was and just had to google it it!!! You are becoming a true brit, BF :)
Good fucking sandwich that.
Good fucking coffee table set-up too.
your work always leaves me lingering. i felt as though i wanted to step into the warm light of these photos and have breakfast with you. it takes so much talent to evoke those sort of emotions when shooting the simplest parts of our lives.
sorry, not signed in correctly. oops :) (kris)

I’ve just stumbled on your website via flickr. love your photos, especially the light and stillness in the last one. marmite good, sourdough excellent. welcome to the UK!
I love the simplicity of the photos, yet they give the perfect example of a busy life!
Ended up clicking through to you on one of those random “see a link, pick it up” type occurrences and now I have to go and make a cheese and Marmite sandwich and look at your photos some more.
Beautiful. I am a fan of that in general so shall be back.
