. . . . . . . . . . . .
bob posted some stills from a favorite film of mine today, called “sleep furiously”, a documentary of a rural town in wales. it reminded me that i’ve been meaning to recommend it here. it’s a melancholy story, but stunningly beautiful, meditative and quietly elegant. the thing about the film that i really enjoy is the pace – it captures certain rhythms of rural daily life in a way that appeals to me … almost reassuring, if that makes any sense. it’s a very inspiring film.
here is the trailer and here is one of my favorite scenes.

i will watch it.
The lighting of the first photo is impeccable.
brb, off to make a rhubarb crumble
The film looks really interesting, and reminds me in pace of “Etre et Avoir”. It’s a French documentary (shot in 2002) following a primary school teacher and his kids in rural france, it’s wonderful. Here’s the trailer: http://youtu.be/S49qvE86Qs0
that bed looks so cosy.
Thank you. This film looks intriguing. Love that lady’s sheets blowing and her clothesline propper-upper.
Thank you for the recommend. Definitely something I’ll watch this weekend. :) I love the simplicity of that second picture. The lines and textures going through it. Wonderful.
What a lovely film. The rhythm is therapeutic…like yoga, maybe. Or waves lapping at the seaside. Something else I can’t quite identify. You always bring the best links…AND photos. Thanks for remembering us.
wow, that movie looks interesting.
the clip you shared SO reminds me of my mother. she’s still baking furiously, even now all us kids have left home.
thanks for sharing it here.
have you read this, brian?

I love the first image – the light, the plants, the food and especially the white tiles!
