. . . . . . . . . . .
i’ve been thinking a lot about these words, which are taken from the most recent anson mills newsletter (thanks, mom):
“As months go, June is unassailable. It holds the longest day, the lushest greens, the sweetest peas. Its calendar heaves with commencements and betrothals. Roses bloom and strawberries blossom only in June. Fireflies flare against June’s night skies alone. Its birthstone is the pearl! Fresh and unfettered, June knows nothing of the clawed, parched trail of summer days to come, and returns, every year, as deeply and perfectly June as ever.”
. . . . . .
(i’ve been eating very well lately. since i know you are curious, most of the restaurant/food photos above were taken at violet, brawn [saturday lunch with tommy, including a whole dorset crab with mayonnaise!], the hackney pearl, the charles lamb, pizza east, and the towpath)
i was going to say exactly that: looks like you’re eating well! wonderful collection of randoms, brian.
lovely!
i’m in love with your photos and i can’t stop looking at them. i think it’s the twelfth photo (the very beautiful kitchen) that i like most.
Love the random collection. Your food shots look amazing.
New to your blog and I love those words about June. So true.
love your randoms. your photos are always inspiring. and now i wanna go to a nice restaurant! :)
Lovely description of June. I so love that last photo especially.
these are sooo stunning! i just want to live in your photos.
oh, i love them all
The food looks absolutely delicious! I’m quite jealous of all the wonderful things you’ve photographed and put up on this blog. Once I move back to the city, I’ll have to make sure to save a few dollars a month to go feasting on some of these. :)
Love the idea of random photos! And they are all beautiful and fun. Thanks for sharing.
what a terrific life :)
And June here in Montana is the most lush, beautiful, wet, raindrops sit balancing on the petals of wild lupine like pearls, glacier lilies adorn the top of my salads, and the creeks are fat with melted snow and incessant rain. I love your pictures and the oysters as their own pearls and the lovely green foods… nice work.
I’m vegetarian but your photos of Pork Pie and Oysters are so good I’m almost tempted to try them.
Just perfect! Beautiful photos. x
Yes, thanks to your mother. Wonderful words on June.
oh. beauty.
something about the way that you shoot restaurants is just so wonderful and honest.. I’ve worked in them in one way or another for..ever.. and it seems like your photos always capture the moments of lull, or before open, or midday quiet.. that nobody but servers and bartenders seem to see and savour. Beautiful.
Mmmmm…..the cupcakes and coffee look pretty darn good. I’ll be in London for July and will have to search out a similar meal.
Aah, those strawberries look phenomenal. I was in Camden two or three weeks ago and there was a whole stand of flawless, perfect strawberries that I tragically couldn’t buy because I was on the way to the theatre. I hope you enjoyed yours!
absolutely loved the photos, ahh London :)
I loved these! :) and yes, thanks for the names of the restaurants, I always want to know and try them when i visit london this summer.. love,
daphne
