. . . . . .
After seeing some truly cringe-worthy apartments last week, I had a great lunch at Diner in Brooklyn with Molly.
That restaurant always puts me in the best mood. And the soup shown above knocked my socks off. (I wish I could say the same for the apartments I saw … I had better luck the following day, thankfully).

Wondering what you would describe a ‘cringe-worthy’ apartment as – looking for a new place is always a challenge haha.
Looks like an interesting soup.
agreed! love the idea of writing on the table’cloth’ what the client ordered…. I often wd love to do the same at home… :)
hope you’ll find your dream apt soon; it IS so stressful!
Lovely photos. Glad you had better luck the next day. I bet you saw some weird history in some of the neighborhoods.
oh makes me miss it.
I can’t believe I still haven’t been to Diner. Shame on me, I only ever hear good things…
Again quite like these. Haven’t been to a diner in the longest time.
I would have soup for lunch today :)
a good friend recommended diner to me, love it. one of my favorite places! i was in nyc in november and ate so many great soups. this one looks divine!
there are some truly cringe-worthy apartments in the neighborhood around diner – i think the presence of marlow & diner are some sort of cosmic restitution for that fact (or perhaps it’s the other way around). glad to hear that you had better luck the next day.
as an aside, it has been such a lovely pleasure to enjoy london, a city i lived in a miss terribly, through your camera for the last two years. i’m really looking forward to seeing my own borough and favorite spots as you see them, and have gotten a little thrill the last two days looking at two of my regular spots (diner and cafe pedlar) here. hope you are settling in well.
okay, i need to know what the soup was?
;)
Don’t forget that Fleetwood Mac. Sealed the deal…
Hello Brian, I found your blog for the first time today and absolutely love it! Can I be very cheeky and ask what camera you use/recommend? Thank you so much. Alex xx
i have seen more cringe-worthy apartments in nyc than anywhere else. glad you finally found a gem! also, i miss diner… a lot.
diner and fleetwood mac, be still my heart.
what’s the soup?
the light <3
I went to the Diner for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was my last brunch in NY before flying back to London and I wondered why my friend had taken me to somewhere with such a dry menu – omelette, country breakfast etc… until the waitress came round and scribbled on the table! It was a-ma-zing. I popped a picture of the table on my blog too :)
