I’m very excited to share photos from a new assignment that I photographed for Brooklyn Magazine‘s Fall Fashion issue, which is now available online and in newsstands very shortly.
My assignment was to visit 2 of “Brooklyn’s Best Young Designers” in their studios and photograph their creative process for the magazine. I visited Aaron Ruff (the first batch of photos above), a jewelry designer behind the brand Digby & Iona in his Cobble Hill studio. I also visited Kelly Reid (the second batch of photos above), who makes handmade leather goods as Reid.Damnit in her Williamsburg space.
You can read the article and see a slideshow of my photos here. Or if you’re local, pick up a print copy of the magazine at a newsstand in NYC.
(Also, the super-talented photographer Clément Pascal photographed the other 2 designers profiled in the article, Ryan Greer from Flux Productions and Ellen van Dusen from Dusen Dusen. Amazing work).
Enjoy!
Beautiful imagery. The lighting and compositions are top notch.
i love these brian, such incredible light in both locations. how i love ones that are dedicated to their craft, you capture it so well.
love the way you captured the darker shadows. such perfect, cloudy day light.
All such beautiful photos, all the way down to the end when you blow them all out of the water with Kelly Reid’s wonderful portrait. Her smile, and the light!
loving the mood you captured.
excited to see your new work. feels like it was taken so carefully so that the moods of the studios wouldn’t be bothered (from invasion) but intact and engaging
I adore that last one, with how the light’s shining so wonderfully on her face and with her smile it’s really something. You’ve, as always, done a wonderful job with all of these, Brian.
Loved all your pics! Not only the technical aspect of them: lighting, composition, harmony, but also the “soul”! One day I wish i can get there!
gorgeous portraits!
Thanks man! Really great work as well!
Also, I heard that we have some friends in common, I met Xavier and Jolayne in Paris.
Cheers.
