The incredible Book–Shop was in NYC last week from California, doing a pop-up shop at the equally great men’s shop C’H'C’M’ on Bond St. I stopped by while they were setting up and then again during the course of their pop-up and shot some photos for Erik Heywood, the brilliant guy who is behind Book–Shop.
Sorry for the crazy amount of book photos above, but man! Erik had so many great books for sale. He finds the best stuff. Also, seeing all of these makes me wish that current book design was more like old book design – books look so boring these days.
Book–Shop and C’H'C’M’ also hosted Lorin Stein, the editor of The Paris Review, for a talk one evening. It was great to hear his thoughts on his job and The Paris Review and it was a really good night. Nice work on a successful pop-up, Erik and Sweetu.
These photos are brilliant in their simplicity, clarity and composition. Of course, the store is handsome too—but these make me want to be there and buy a lot!
I loved this pop-up. It was so beautifully done, and those slotted book shelves are incredible in person.
Very happy to see these but man do I wish I could have been there too!
It was so good to meet you in person, Brian! Thanks for all the beautiful shots, you’re amazing!
What a happy collection of books. I vote for a book-shop pop-up in London!
Inspiring book covers and beautiful compositions in your pictures!
That selection of books is ace. I agree, bring it to London.
