give me music
hi friends. i sure am glad to be back around here today. it was a beast of a week/weekend. and then last night, as i went to download the 3 photos i managed to take over the past 5 days, i accidentally deleted my absolute favorite. lost forever. sigh.
but i am back, and that top photo reminds me of the one i lost. so that makes me feel better. plus, i’ve got some good stuff for later this week, including some food talk and hopefully new film that is currently being developed. stay tuned.
but first, i made a new mix. over the weeknd, i thought about how much i need music (i left my ipod at home that day and felt quite lost). seriously, i need it. it is such an important part of my everyday life and i’m always looking for new stuff that moves me. i’m an awful music critic so i can never say exactly what i like about something … but most of the time, a song or an album just hits me right in the gut and i know that it’s just what i need.
this month, i’m sharing a list of songs that have hit me in the gut like that recently. and most of these got me through a very long weekend. you can listen to the mix HERE.
+ pulling on a line (great lake swimmers)
+ furrows (the dark water hymnal)
+ just the past (peter bjorn and john)
+ the treehouse song (ane brun) (thanks, astrid!)
+ i heard your voice in dresden (elvis perkins in dearland)
+ still around (dexter romweber and neko case) (credit for this one goes to shari)
+ heart it races (original by architecture in helsinki, this version by dr. dog)
+ demon host (timber timbre) (this song kills me)
+ i want to dance with somebody (david byrne, live in paris)
i hope you will enjoy them too, and i’ll see you back here tomorrow!
