that light

May 8, 2009

the top and bottom images are mine.
middle images (click the link to see full size, it’s worth it!): 1. dad’s heirloom tomatoes, by youngna; 2. UF07, by peterbaker; 3. a clean start & curtains for bush, by theGentleman™; 4. (jump start banner year), by nude as all of the new news.

this week, i’m liking these shots taken indoors with diffuse natural light.  and windows, apparently.

there is a time in the day when the light in my apartment looks like this. my windows face east, so i get this muted, flat light in the early evenings and if i am home then (usually only on the weekends), i like to take a minute and just sit, quietly. my apartment feels so calm.

i’d like to have a few moments like that this weekend.  in addition, i’m hoping the rain stops long enough so that i can do lots of planting on the roofdeck (i don’t have a green thumb (at all), but i think this is the year to change that).

and of course i’ll be sure my weekend includes some beers with friends, sitting outside.

happy weekend to you!

I think that flat light is magnified in all this grey weather. It really is something unique to this time of the year too, I think. Beautiful!

I totally love this collection of pictures…as a whole it makes me envision i’m somewhere in the south, sipping a cocktail, in a rocking chair on a humid back porch, in a dress of course, feet propped up, melting into the moment. thank you.
