i made a book

August 27, 2009

hi, friends.  some news to share today …

i’m quite excited to tell you about a little project i’ve been working on. i’ve been assembling and designing a book of my film photos from cape cod, entitled ‘wellfleet.’ it is finished, and i’m giving you a sneak peek above. it includes lots of photos i’ve shared here before, and some new photos that i think you will like.

i designed this first book using blurb, and it is available for you to purchase a copy HERE. (you can also get another preview of the book by following that link.)

as i mentioned before, i’ve been thinking about the benefits of seeing a printed photo (vs. viewing an image online only). since i don’t have the ability at this time to offer prints of my photos, i started thinking about putting together small collections of images, in case you would like to have something to hold in your hand.

i’m hoping this will be the first in a series of small photo books. as you know, i enjoy collecting photos and telling a story with them. ‘wellfleet’ tells the story of a week at the beach this summer, and it also documents my new love for shooting film. i’m hoping to tell more visual stories in subsequent books.

my hope is that you’ll flip through this for some inspiration, and in a few months when winter is upon us, perhaps it will help you remember warmer days.

(i’ll see you tomorrow for friday flickr faves!)

Brian! How lovely. I love the pairing of the muffin with the blue, blue sky and rooftop on the opposite page. Nicely done. (By the way, these photographs of open books that pop up here from time to time are themselves beautiful pieces.)

I stumbled on your blog a few months ago and have since checked back at random times to see your photos. While I always like them, the ones I was drawn to the most were your series about your trip to the Cape from this summer. I could tell immediately before even reading the heading where they were from and could recognize almost all of the locations, (back corner table for two at the Wicked!). That’s because I actually grew up in Wellfleet and although I am now living in Seattle looking at your photos was awesome- it made me feel like I was at home in the summer. Congratulations on making your book, you really captured the feeling of the town. You totally Get It.
