merry & bright

December 23, 2009

this year, i’ve been lucky enough to enjoy the christmas season in london, and then in new york.  and there have been many good things lately.

the christmas shopping is finished, and i’ve found gifts that will (hopefully) make people smile. this afternoon, i’ll check out of the office for a little break and i can’t wait. i’ve decided what to make for a homemade gift this year, and i’m ready to get in the kitchen tonight and play some christmas tunes (it’s a secret though … i want my friends to be surprised!).

we’ve purchased the ingredients to make my favorite boozy cake for christmas day, and i’m looking forward to sharing it with guests. i’ve tasted cheese and picked a few good ones for our cheese board this year, and i’m ready to make eggnog and mix up manhattans.

and i have a little gift for you, too … you can stream the “this american life” holiday spectacular here. this is one of my favorite things to listen to at the holidays, and ever since i first heard it a couple of years ago, i come back to it each year. i think it’s best enjoyed while a snowstorm rages outside and you find yourself at the stove, making something delicious for your friends and family. enjoy.

i hope to share some snapshots of our holiday over at flickr … and i hope yours is merry and bright.
