greens

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . .

while this might seem pretty random, i’m incredibly inspired by the deep greens everywhere in the summertime. the photos above are from london, brooklyn, cape cod and connecticut (from the archives, of course). there is something about walking through a deep forest in the summer that really affects me. but i find these greens everywhere – even in the city. when i first started shooting film, i liked that the greens in film photographs are often richer … and i have been hooked since.

so when i saw the book of photographs above, i knew i had to get a copy. it is cabin and woods, by coley brown and cristiano guerri. “it tells about the wild and the unknown with shots from the forests of scandinavia, colorado, upstate new york, europe.”

this is a nice start to my summer photo inspiration. now it’s time to plan some excursions, i think.

i love the way greens change with the season and the light. the way the greens change and then the world changes.

when i was a teenager we stayed in a cabin in montana. that is where my mind goes when i look at the last few of these photos. i can smell the mulchy earth while we walked to a little diner for breakfast.
i want to live in the 6th photo down after the cabin photographs…where is that?

Absolutely gorgeous, Brian! I love the first photo (was it taken with a diana or holga camera?), but all are beautiful especially taken together. You do a fine job capturing light as well as making what could be considered mundane (steps to brownstones) magical. I love film and shoot with a Pentax K1000 in addition to my dslr, and your work just makes me want to shoot with it even more.
