good times in portland
. . . . . . . . .
more photos from my time in portland, maine a couple of weeks ago.
it’s always so fun to see a friend’s living space – how they decorate it and set it up. so i snapped some photos at maria & CDR’s place and ryan’s apartment while i was visiting, and i really felt inspired by it all. of course i had to shoot a photo at maria’s famous blue table, and ryan’s place has the most incredible dappled light … it was quite photogenic.
it was hot and summery when i was visiting, and in the evening, we had drinks and snacks on the deck as the sun set. and then we were off to dinner at fore street, which i had heard (and read) so much about. it did not disappoint – it was a fantastic meal and such a memorable night. i’ve been thinking about it a lot since returning to london.
speaking of inspirations, i loved reading this post from 2 or 3 things yesterday. i couldn’t agree more. when a certain moment, photo, mood or place hits me and i can’t get it out of my head, it’s my favorite part of the creative process i think. that bolt of inspiration, being “in it” – it’s fun to see what comes out of it.
Hello- stumbled upon your blog and had to say your photos are lovely!
we miss you!
great series of photographs!
Beautiful, beautiful photos, as usual. The sense of summer in these is so palpable–I want to bookmark them all to look back on as the weather where I live gets greyer and wetter and Autumn approaches…
I love this set of photographs. Your words on the creative process paired with the shared post were spot on. Happy Thursday, Brian.

maria’s table is really only as big as all that?!
funny what a few steps back will do for perspective. as true in photographs, i suppose, as life.

Not, good, these times seem to be great Brian. Your photos make me jealous. Congrats!
Something about flowers and chairs in windows with light streaming on them is just so fantastic. Great captures you’ve shared here.
your photos are always great! The best atmosphere. Sometimes, I have no words to describe my feelings.

I was just in Portland as well but you definitely snagged better photographs! I’m loving your blog big time. :)
molly was right – your blog is lovely. thanks for your beautiful story-telling through photos!
I stumbled here via Orangette also. Your photographs are absolutely wonderful. My fiance and I were also recently in Portland and dined at Fore Street… many mouth-watering memories of that meal, and many thoughts of “can we go back?”
Maine is one of my favorite places too. Here are a few of my snaps from a not to recent trip to surf up there.
