up north

January 12, 2011

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

more photos from maine … the house we stayed in had a windowed turret/tower at the top, reached by a ladder from one of the rooms. it was great.

today, i’m liking:
+ the invisible moustache of raoul dufy (via wayne)
+ these images compiled by louise
+ a good article about one of my favorite things in the world, the shipping forecast (i listen to this before bed almost every night) (via CPLD)

So lovely. And the buoys in the tree remind me of home – it’s a not uncommon sight in rural Nova Scotia, too.

Beautiful photos. Found your site via Pinterest. Now listening to the Shipping Forecast. Thank you! I have no idea what some of the jargon means, but it’s almost hypnotic and meditative. I love that it ends with “God Save the Queen.”

    Hi Brian,
your blog ( and all it’s loveliness) inspires me daily. It’s funny, you are the second person I’ve heard say that they love the shipping forecast. A girl I know says she finds it calming and it helps her to fall asleep. :)
Why do you like it so?
Any chance of another fabulous eight track mix from you?
How about songs to fall asleep to?
Happy light filled days my friend….x
