Preview – Voices of Industry
. . . . . . .
I’m so excited to share a preview of some new work. While I was in California, I spent a couple of days shooting a variety of images for a new brand called Voices of Industry. The website had a soft launch earlier this week, with the full website to come soon.
Adele Stafford, the amazing woman behind Voices of Industry, makes hand woven textiles & apparel from 100% domestic fiber farmed and spun in the USA. All of the textiles are hand-woven by Adele on a mechanical loom in her studio in Oakland, CA.
I have such enthusiasm for, and admiration of, Adele’s work and the work of the farmers who produce the fiber she uses. Over the course of 2 days, I received a crash course in weaving, looms, textiles, and growing naturally-colored cotton (more on this last bit soon).
Adele’s brand truly incorporates the history of textiles, the process involved and the dedication to craft – something that has become a PR buzzword in the past few years, but is refreshingly free of artifice in Adele’s case.
Have a look at the Voices of Industry site for more photos and info. Stay tuned for many more photos and an official launch in the coming month.
Thanks to Adele for asking me to be a part of this incredible project, and to Valeda Beach Stull for her valuable assistance and discerning eye.
