Guesthouse in Stanfordville, NY for Dwell Magazine
. . . . . . .
New work!
Above, photos from the second story I photographed in the February 2015 issue of Dwell magazine.
This renovated guesthouse in upstate NY was once an outbuilding/shed adjacent to the Plastic Tent House that renowned architect John M. Johansen designed for his family. Johansen was a part of the influential group of architects known as the Harvard Five. The main house is bonkers (see HERE and HERE for photos & info), and so is this renovated guesthouse. The current owners renovated the building; Alan Orenbuch (an architect) and his partner Bryan O’Rourke (an interior designer) did an incredible job of making the old shed into a small but very well-designed place for their guests to stay while visiting the couple upstate.
I spent a sunny September day here, listening to Brian Eno and photographing this one in my bare feet. Alan and Bryan made a tasty lunch and we ate outside on the patio. It was another very memorable shoot.
And the next day I was off on my flight to São Paulo to photograph the Jardins apartment for this same issue. It was a very good couple of weeks.
I’ll be adding both of these Dwell shoots to my portfolio very soon. In the meantime, pick up the February 2015 issue on newsstands now.
