I visited my friends Maria & CDR in Maine for the New Year, and we had such a good time as always. It was bitterly cold on January 1 but we went for a beach walk to start the year off right, and it was worth it.

New work!

I was very excited to shoot my first assignment for Mr. Porter recently. I photographed Jeffrey Deitch, the art dealer & curator, for the New York issue of Mr. Porter’s THE JOURNAL.

I’ve been traveling the past couple of weeks doing shoots in Wyoming (snowy & mountainous) and Seattle (rainy & mossy). I’m back at home in a few days and I have lots of photos to share then… stay tuned.

Months ago now, making some arrangements with pals and photographing it at “In Waves” at Jack Hanley Gallery. Friends Alexis G, RO/LU, and Paul Clipson created something really special, and I’m so glad I could experience and document it.

I spent a couple of days in December visiting my friends Valeda & Elijah at their home in Woodstock, NY. And on my 35th birthday, we went for a hike in the woods. It was a good day.

New work!

Above, photos from the second story I photographed in the February 2015 issue of Dwell magazine.

This renovated guesthouse in upstate NY was once an outbuilding/shed adjacent to the Plastic Tent House that renowned architect John M. Johansen designed for his family. Johansen was a part of the influential group of architects known as the Harvard Five. The main house is bonkers (see HERE and HERE for photos & info), and so is this renovated guesthouse. The current owners renovated the building; Alan Orenbuch (an architect) and his partner Bryan O’Rourke (an interior designer) did an incredible job of making the old shed into a small but very well-designed place for their guests to stay while visiting the couple upstate.

I spent a sunny September day here, listening to Brian Eno and photographing this one in my bare feet. Alan and Bryan made a tasty lunch and we ate outside on the patio. It was another very memorable shoot.

And the next day I was off on my flight to São Paulo to photograph the Jardins apartment for this same issue. It was a very good couple of weeks.

I’ll be adding both of these Dwell shoots to my portfolio very soon. In the meantime, pick up the February 2015 issue on newsstands now.

I recently photographed Ben Watson’s morning routine for Harry’s Five O’Clock Mag.

Ben is the talented creative director of Herman Miller and a super nice guy. Beautiful sunrise light, expertly-made espressos on a La Pavoni espresso machine (!!), a hearty breakfast, and incredible design/furniture/art … this was one of my favorite morning routines of 2014.

Above, the series of photos from the cover story I photographed for the Dwell February 2015 issue. This renovated apartment in São Paulo is located in the Jardins neighborhood. Its defining characteristic is certainly the indoor/outdoor terrace, which is a rarity in congested São Paulo apartment buildings. So nice to bring nature indoors in a big city.

It was a beautiful, sunny day so the light was great for the shoot – and the owner (Simone Santos) and one of the architects (Alexandre Skaff, of SAO Arquitetura) made it a really fun shoot day, too. Simone & Alex were incredibly kind and welcoming and provided lots of laughs and good tunes. After the sun had set over the SP skyline and I snapped my final shot, we ordered a pizza and opened a couple bottles of wine. A really memorable shoot! Very thankful to Dwell for this assignment.

My First Cover!

Big News to start off 2015 …

My first magazine cover!!

I photographed this beautiful renovated penthouse apartment in São Paulo for the February 2015 issue of Dwell magazine, and one of my photos made the cover! The issue is on newsstands now.

Especially excited that everything was shot on film (thanks to Sue, Dwell’s photo editor, for encouraging this).

I’ll share the photos from this story later today. I also shot a renovated guesthouse in upstate NY for this same issue of the magazine, and I’ll post those photos later this week.

Happy New Year to you all. I took a few weeks off around the holidays to relax, see family & friends, and reset before the new year. After a very busy 2014, it was really nice.
Super excited for the year ahead; I have a couple of great projects in the works, and loads of photos to share with you here in the coming weeks. Thanks for following along – more very soon!
