if i could see all my friends tonight

September 13, 2010

. . . . . . . . . .

we spent a weekend on lake michigan with the perfect summer weather. we slept in bunk beds like we were back in the dorms again. we went swimming in the clear water and we played cornhole on the deck. we caught up over pancakes and eggs at breakfast and i told people about london. we laughed.  we watched two good friends get married on the beach, and we toasted to them with glasses of bell’s oberon (the best). we danced barefoot while the sun set over lake michigan. we walked along the water in the dark and sat around a bonfire late into the night. and when it was time to leave, i wished i could take everyone with me.

this is probably one of my favorite series of yours, brian. wow! love the writing, as well. it’s one of the things that scares me about moving to london… homesickness.

Okay, now I get the ‘not wanting to leave summer just yet’ vibe. If it was like this, instead of London August, I might feel the same!

these are really beautiful photos. and as a born and raised michigander currently living in belgium (all i have to say is ‘preach’ about this european summer/fall weather business. i mean, really?!) these photos seriously have me jonesin’ for my extended holiday back in the mitten state next summer. sigh…

hi brian, your pictures are very beautiful. there’s this kind of intimate relation between yourself and the people captured that is very subtley and pleasantly portrayed. it’s very warm.

    Hey Brian,

I’ve had this page bookmarked since you posted it, I keep coming back to it cause it’s so great. Especially love the ‘after wedding’ ones, I agree with Jessie two posts above. Thanks for sharing.
