. . . . . . . .

While I was in Portland, Maine, I had the pleasure of shooting some photos for my new friends at Tandem Coffee Roasters. When I shot the photos above, they were about a week away from opening their doors to the public, so you can see some of the “behind-the-scenes” views. But I also think you get a sense for the clean & considered aesthetic of the space.  (My friends at More & Co., their design team, also deserve kudos!).

I really love the interior – the lighting fixtures, the beautiful wood on the tables and countertops, the exposed ceiling, the excellent painting in the bathroom (pictured above – ask Will about it when you visit…).

And the team behind Tandem – Will and Kathleen Pratt and Vien Dobui (barista extraordinaire) are 3 ex-Blue Bottle employees.  Will has extensive roasting experience with Blue Bottle, Kathleen was the manager of Blue Bottle’s Mint Plaza location and headed up operations for their NYC expansion, and Vien was the head of training and research for both coasts.  Clearly, they know their stuff.  This place is going to be EPIC.

They are now open for business – if you’re in Portland then I highly recommend a visit for coffees or a bag of beans to take home. Tandem Coffee is located at 122 Anderson Street, in the East Bayside neighborhood.

Good luck, Tandem!  I can’t wait to visit again soon.

(p.s. there’s a good write-up about Tandem with more info here on the popular coffee blog Sprudge)
