Sit & Read

My very talented friend Kyle Garner has just launched his fantastic new website: sit-read.com.
I’m grateful to have been able to collaborate with Kyle on photographing a few of the interior projects he’s worked on. Above, some photos of Kyle’s studio apartment & gallery/shop space in Wiliamsburg, which was designed and built by Sit & Read in 2010 and photographed by me last year.

Some random photos taken in March.
The change of seasons is making me antsy this year – I’ve been in NYC too much … in front of my computer too often. There’s an itch to get out and see something new. An adventure. Make plans, work on that new project, never leave home without my camera, wander for hours, look with fresh eyes, search for cheap flights, find a new obsession, change my routine, reach out, say hello.

I love these stark black & white images from the Huntington desert garden – the lines & forms, the film grain.
Also, here’s a link to a great new single from my friend Melaena Cadiz, a very talented singer/songwriter here in Brooklyn. I met her through Mikael Kennedy, and she asked me to contribute a photo for her Singles Project release this month. I love the song, “You Get Me Bad” – and the photo fits it well. Have a listen.

When I was in California in February, I spent one Sunday in Pasadena – at the PCC flea market and then I went to the Huntington Gardens & Library. I was there to see Lesley Vance & Ricky Swallow’s exhibition at the Huntington Library (which was excellent), but I also spent a few hours in the gardens and walking around the grounds of the estate.
I took a lot of photos there, and I have a whole series that I’m saving in hopes of printing a small booklet of photos to sell. But it will take me some time to figure out the printing and to assemble a book, so I thought I’d share a few photos from the Huntington over the next week.
The photos I took this day are some of my favorites from the trip west in February.
Dean DiSimone’s Loft on Freunde von Freunden

. . . . . . .
I recently photographed the Soho loft of Dean DiSimone, a creative director/designer with an incredible apartment and sense of style.
Click over to see the full feature on Freunde von Freunden today.
Thanks to Dean, Kyle and the FvF team for this opportunity! It was a lot of fun – and man, Dean’s apartment is insane, right?
